Vernon W. Baylor
Vernon W. Baylor, of Hughesville died Wednesday Nov. 18, 2009 at his home. He had been in ill health for the past six months.
He was born Feb. 27, 1926 in Danville, a son of the late Daniel Herman and Helen Mae (Girton) Baylor. April 18, 1953, he married Doris E. Murray, who survives.
He was a member of the Picture Rocks United Methodist Church. Vernon was employed at the former Modcraft for 17 years and retired from Sprout Waldron after 16 years of service. He enjoyed cards, gardening, hunting, fishing, picnics and amusement parks.
In addition to his wife of 56 years, he is survived by four daughters, Debra (Dan) Miller, Hughesville; Brenda (Jerry) Roslevich, Muncy; Karen (Jim) Snyder, Montgomery; and Shelley (Robert) Snyder, Muncy; two sons, Dennis and Kevin Baylor, Fountain, Colo.; 14 grandchildren, Helena, William, Kristy, Eric, Lucas, Jennifer, Matthew, Shawn, Danielle, Dale, Keith, Tasha, Megan and James; seven great-grandchildren, Charmaine, Justin, Paul, James, Houston, Cameron and Elaina; a sister, Mildred Nichols, Williamsport and a brother, Donald Baylor, Muncy.
He was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Bill Hummel, a sister, Christine Poust and a brother, Robert Baylor.
Funeral services were held on Monday at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville by Rev. Gerald D. Wagner and Rev. David K. Fishel. The interment was held in the Twin Hill Memorial Park, Montoursville.
