William W. Shief
William W. Shief, 77, of 2343 State Home Road, Montgomery, died Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the Williamsport Hospital.
Born April 25, 1932 in Williamsport, he was a son of the late William Charles and Harriet Wilson (Britton) Shief.
He and his wife of 53 years, the former Martha Blanche Fenstermacher, were married July 15, 1956.
A 1950 graduate of Williamsport High School, he served in the U. S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. He continued to serve in the Army Reserve units both in Williamsport and Lewisburg for another 20 years.
Bill was employed for many years at the former Anchor Darling Valve in Williamsport, and then went to work for the former Ferno Ille in Williamsport. He retired in 1997 from Kellogg’s, Muncy, where he worked for 10 years.
An avid outdoorsman, Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He particularly enjoyed his many trips to Canada and the lakes he visited there.
He was a member of the Muncy Presbyterian Church. Bill was also a member of the Dietrick Lamade Lodge #755 F& AM, South Williamsport.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Ronald L. Shief and Richard L. and Deborah A. Shief, all of Montgomery; one sister, Shirley Silsbee of Montoursville; and four grandchildren, Rachel L., Adam R., Sarah F. and Michael W. Shief.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16, at Muncy Presbyterian Church, Washington and Penn Streets, Muncy. Burial with full military honors folllowed in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
Friends were received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
