J. Irene Travelpiece, 84, of Montgomery, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, at the Muncy Valley Hospital, Skilled Nursing Unit surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born Nov. 30, 1925, in Opps, a daughter of the late William and Hazel (Ball) Weeks. Dec. 30, 1941, she married the late Leroy L. Travelpiece, who died March 18, 1991. Irene was a member of the White Hall Baptist Church. She was very family oriented and always willing to lend a hand to those in need. Irene enjoyed quilting, crocheting, cooking, baking and camping and working at McDonald’s in Hughesville for the past 15 years.
Surviving are two daughters Victoria A. (William) Delsite, Milton and Cynthia K. (Larry) Lupold, Montgomery; five grandchildren Jacqueline Ray, Angela Rishel, Anthony Delsite, Andrea Bosgraaf and Allison Begley; and 10 great-grandchildren Desiree, Ori, Nicholas, Randi, Keenan, Jena, Dalton, Anthony Jr., Brock and Kaylin. In addition to her parents and husband of 41 years, she was preceded in death by a daughter Deanna Phillips, a son Raymond Travelpiece and a grandson Randall Phillips.
Funeral services were held last Monday in the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville with the Rev. Max L. Walters Jr., officiating. Burial followed in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
