Lester F. Yerg

Lester F. Yerg, 87, of Hughesville died at 1:28 p.m., Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Valley View Nursing Home.

He was born August 15, 1922 in Muncy, a son of the late Alfred Yerg. August 23, 1945, he married the late Gertrude M. May, who passed away June 19, 1986.

Lester was a diesel mechanic for Smith’s Truck Lines for 32 years retiring in 1985. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking fishing trips to Canada. He was a member of the Milton Moose and the Masonic Lodge, NY and a life member of the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Co.

He is survived by a daughter, Patsy A. (Charles) Feigles, Muncy; two sons, Ray A. (Janet) Yerg, Pennsdale and Robert F. (Joan) Yerg, Montoursville; 2 grandchildren, Chad and Kristi Yerg, 6 step-grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his father, Lester was preceded in death by a sister, Violet Yerg and a brother, James Yerg.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday in the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville with Rev. Barbara J. Kaetzel-Row officiating. The interment was in the Muncy Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home Friday from 7-9 p.m.
