Richard T. Rodgers, Sr.
Richard T. Rodgers, Sr., 65, a resident of Montgomery, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 22, 2010 at his residence. Born in Williamsport, Lycoming County, PA, on Thursday, July 12, 1945, he was the son of the late Raymond and Caroline (Thomas) Rodgers.
Rick was the husband of Lorraine E. (Erbacher) Rodgers with whom he celebrated a 13th wedding anniversary on September 13, 2009.
Rick was a 1963 graduate of Montgomery High School. He was retired from Construction Specialties at Muncy where he was employed for 28 years, retiring this year. He was the former owner of Rick’s News Stand at Montgomery and had also been employed by the former Montgomery Mills.
Rick was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. He was a lifetime member of Montgomery Volunteer Fire Co. and was an avid golfer and member of the White Deer Golf Course.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Dick Wertz, Montgomery; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard T. and Amy Rodgers, Jr., Sunbury; one step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Patricia and Jack Southerland, Jacksonville, FL; one step-son, Ivan Stugart, Montgomery; one sister, Janice (Dale) Beaver, Watsontown; two brothers, Danny (Dottie) Rodgers, Union, SC; Ronnie (Rose) Rodgers, Montgomery. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, many many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, Tomma Nuss and his wife’s family, the Erbachers.
A memorial service was conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main St., Muncy on Aug. 26, 2010 with Rev. James R. Pentz, pastor of the New Covenant Assembly at Montgomery, officiating.
