Scott Grove

G. Scott Grove, 50, a resident of Williamsport, Pa., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 4, 2010, in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. Born in Muncy Creek Twp., Lycoming County, Pa., on Saturday, August 6, 1960, he was the son of the late John F. Grove and Mary Jane (Hill) Grove who survives him of Williamsport, Pa.

Scott was the husband of Tammi M. (Shimp) Grove, with whom he celebrated a 1st wedding anniversary on August 16, 2010.

Scott was a 1978 graduate of Montgomery High School and a 1982 graduate of Mansfield University, where he received his bachelor of science in education degree. He was employed as a biology teacher by the Williamsport School District.

He was a member of the Trinity Gospel Church at Williamsport, Pa. Scott was the head baseball coach for the Williamsport Millionaires from 1988 to 2007 and the assistant head coach for the Hughesville Spartans from 2008 to 2010. He worked for the Little League summer camp and volunteered for 28 years for Little League Baseball at Bristol, Conn. and the Little League World Series. Scott had a passion for baseball and spoke at various coaching clinics around the country. He was a talented singer and enjoyed singing at various functions.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by three sons, Nicholas S. Grove, Williamsport, Pa., Nate Grove, North Bethesda, Md., and Nevin W. Grove, Williamsport, Pa.; one brother and sister-in-law, John F. and Shari Grove Jr., Sayre, Pa.; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Kathi McCabe, Hawkins, Texas, Debra and Thomas Jackson, Williamsport, Pa. and Alice Grove, Williamsport, Pa.; two step-daughters, Jocelyn Dunkleberger, Williamsport, Pa. and Jynelle Dunkleberger, Williamsport, Pa.; and three grandchildren, Deidra Dunkleberger, Chase Dunkleberger and Khyla Dunkleberger.

Funeral services will be conducted from the First Baptist Church, 380 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, Pa., at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, September 9, 2010, with Rev. Dr. Robert L. Manzinger officiating and Pastor Joel E. Henderson of the Trinity Gospel Church at Williamsport assisting. Interment will be in the Clinton Baptist Cemetery, Clinton Twp., Lycoming, Pa. Friends called on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the church.
