Joanne C. Brehm

Joanne C. Brehm, 71, of Hughesville, died at 8:45 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, at the Gatehouse, where she had been a resident for the past day. She had been a resident of Manor Care North since April.

Born August 12, 1939, in St. Mary’s, Cameron Co., a daughter of the late Cecil and Eloise Smith. Her husband of 20 years, Richard Brehm, passed away in 2003. Earlier in life, she had been married to the late Donald J. Kephart and the late Burton K. Clark.

Joanne graduated from Cameron High School, class of 1957, where everyone knew her as “Tex.” She had worked for C.A. Reed, Williamsport, and for Sylvania for many years. Joanne enjoyed fishing, hunting, family canasta games and breeding Maltese and Shih Tzu dogs.

She is survived by two daughters, Debra Kephart-Wall, Charleston, S.C. and Tara (Michael) Savage, Hughesville; two sons, Richard Clark, Charleston, S.C. and Jeffrey (Samantha) Clark, Picture Rocks; a sister, Bonnie (Larry) Hampsher, Williamsport; a brother, David Smith, Emporium; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, with the Pastor James M. Savage, officiating. The family received friends in the funeral home Saturday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Gatehouse of Divine Providence Hospital, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701 or the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. 3rd St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
