Celestia P. Denoskey
Celestia P. Denoskey, 90, formerly of Montgomery, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, at the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit, where she resided the past five years.
Born Oct. 29, 1919 in Montgomery, she was a daughter of the late William E. and Hannah (Heively) King. Her husband, Jess Denoskey, preceded her in death in 1966.
Following graduation from Montgomery High School in 1938 she received a degree in nursing from Muncy Valley Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse at Muncy Valley Hospital for many years, and was also employed as an industrial nurse at the former Montgomery Mills and as a private duty nurse for Senator Henry Lark’s wife.
Celestia was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Montgomery. She volunteered with the American Red Cross and was active in Montgomery community affairs, as well as serving as a Montgomery tax assessor.
Surviving are a daughter, Diane Baldwin of Sedona, Arizona, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two sisters.
The funeral will be held today at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy. Officiating will be her pastor, Rev. Richard Barner. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Montgomery.
Friends will be received today Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church, 43 W. Houston Ave., Montgomery, PA 17752.
