Dorothy P. Stine

Dorothy P. Stine, 91, of Muncy, and a guest at Muncy Valley Skilled Nursing Unit, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at the home. She was born Aug. 27, 1919, in Unityville, a daughter of Elmer A. and Martha F. Vandine Gower.

Dorothy was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Montoursville and had worked for the Montoursville School District. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the D.A.R.; loved antiques, knitting, flowers and gardening.

She was predeceased by her husband, James L. Stine in 1968; by her daughter, Deborah D. Strailey on Dec. 10, 2010; and by nine brothers and sisters.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Wayne L. (Debra) Stine of Montgomery; her son-in-law, Daniel C. Strailey of Montoursville; her sister, Alice Gardner of Montoursville; four grandchildren, Kristi Michael, Andrew and Rebecca Stine, Scott Shaheen; and by four great-grandchildren, Liesel and Adler Stine, and Evelyn and Keenan Michael.

The funeral service was held 2:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at the Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with the Rev. James R. Bramer officiating. Interment followed in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends were received on Monday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
