M. Lucille Solomon
M. Lucille Solomon, 91, of 69 Johnson St., Montgomery, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit.
Born November 2, 1919, she was a daughter of the late R. Fredrick and Verna May (Weaver) Maier.
On August 11, 1950, she married her husband of 50 years, Robert E. Solomon, who preceded her in death on December 15, 2000.
Lucille was a graduate of Montgomery High School. She dedicated most of her life to her husband and family, but worked at one time for the former Montgomery Mills in the sewing department, for the former W.T. Grant Co. as a clerk in the toy department, and in the kitchen at RiverWoods in Lewisburg.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Montgomery. Lucille possessed a keen interest in antiques and yard sales, and for many years she and her husband operated a stand at the Interstate Flea Market in Lewisburg. Her other pastimes included working in her flower beds and with her outdoor plants, as well as enjoying the company of the family dogs, Jasmine, Ginger and Skyler.
Surviving are three nieces, Sherri (Spurgeon) Moore of Muncy, Yvonne (Byron) Krapf of Montgomery, and Lois Rathmell of Watsontown; as well as many cousins.
In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by a son, Lynn R. Solomon, who died Sept. 10, 1993; a brother, Ralph W. Maier; and a sister, V. Marie Gordon.
The funeral was held at noon on Monday, Feb. 7, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy. Officiating was her pastor, Rev. Richard M. Barner. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
Friends was on Monday from 11:00 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.
