Robert R. Smith
Robert R. Smith age 84 of Sun City West, Arizona died Monday, February 14, 2011 at Banner Del Webb Hospital in Sun City West, Arizona. Mr. Smith was born April 15, 1926 in Hughesville, PA,. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph H. Smith and Edna Stackhouse Smith, wife Lila Annalee Thompson Smith, and brother J. Donald Smith. He attended Bliss Electrical School in Rockville MD and retired from AT&T in 1984 after 28 years of service.
In addition to working for AT&T, Mr. Smith built four homes during his lifetime, was a Township Supervisor for Shenango Township, Cubmaster for the Castlewood Cub Scout Troop, sewage and water inspector for Cranberry Township, Lifemaster in Duplicate Bridge and an avid golfer. He was always available to help anyone with his building skills and made numerous youth group trips with Habitat for Humanity. He also served on the board of his condominium association, both in Pittsburgh and Sun City West.
Surviving are his son Joseph B. Smith and partner David H. Wilks, daughter Patti L. Kaminski and husband Paul; grandchildren Robert P. Smith, Jennifer E. Kaminski and Shari L. Kaminski; five great-grandchildren; his loving companion Liz Spolar and his sister in law, Carolyn Smith of Sauquoit.
A graveside gathering of family and friends will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville, PA on March 12, 2011 at 11 a.m.
