J. Lewis Vermilya
J. Lewis Vermilya, 93, of 215 E. Water St, Muncy, died Saturday, March 26, 2011, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
Born March 25, 1918 in Muncy, he was a son of the late Lynn H. and Edna Ruth (Gulliver) Vermilya. On Nov. 2, 1968, he married the former Irene J. Wilmott, who preceded him in death on Jan. 13, 2004, after 35 years of marriage.
Lewis was a graduate of Muncy High School and received a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree in 1941 from Syracuse University.
He was employed as an Industrial Construction Engineer by Stone & Webster Engineering Corp. in various locations in the United States, Canada and Latin America, retiring in 1985.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served honorably during World War II. Lewis was a 50 year member of the Roland Ritter Post 268, American Legion, Muncy.
Surviving are one step son Raymond Richardson; one brother, John R. Vermilya; one sister, Doris R. Vermilya; two step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; two nieces, Linda Boudreau and Barbara Vermilya and one nephew, John R. Vermilya, Jr.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Muncy Cemetery.
