V. Betty Foust
Velma Betty Foust, 87, a resident of Carpenter Street, Muncy, Pa., passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2011, in the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit. Born on Sunday, Feb. 24, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy Swisher.
Betty was the widow of Stanley E. Foust, who preceded her in death on April 3, 1990.
She was a 1938 graduate of the former Hughesville High School. Betty and her husband had owned the former Foust Variety Store at Muncy for over 15 years.
Betty was a member of Christ United Methodist Church at Hughesville, Pa., and was a volunteer at the Son Light House at Muncy, Pa.
She is survived by two nieces and two nephews, Eilene Griner, Emmons, Minn., Marie Swisher, Randy Swisher, Weirton, W.Va., David Swisher, Ohio; three great-nephews, Daniel Turner, Montandon, Pa., John Turner, Tony Griner, Emmons, Minn.; two great-great-nieces and one great-great-nephew, Shawna Turner, Alena Verico, Dan Turner. In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Swisher.
Funeral services were conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main St., Muncy, Pa., at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2011, with Reverend G. Edward Corcelius, her pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Hughesville, Pa. Friends called on Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
