Joan C. DeVillars

Joan C. DeVillars, 74, a resident of Montgomery, Pa., formerly of Sinclairville, N.Y. and Kane, Pa., passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, in the Geisinger Medical Center at Danville, Pa. Born in Jamestown, N.Y., on Thursday, Jan. 28, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Doris (Billstone) Depledge.

Joan was the widow of Ralph R. DeVillars who preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 2010.

She was a 1954 graduate of the Cassadaga Valley Central School and a 1957 graduate of the WCA Hospital School of Nursing. Joan was employed as a registered nurse by four hospitals for over 50 years.

She was of the Baptist faith. Joan enjoyed traveling, antiquing and attending auctions.

She is survived by three sons and one daughter, Robert and Linda Anderson, Orlando, Fla., Douglas and Ann Anderson, Oviedo, Fla.; Daniel and Katie Anderson, Troy, Mich., Diane and John Kliem, Fairfax Station, Va.; four step-daughters, Darlene and David Burkett, East Norriton, Pa., Deborah and Ralph Shay, San Antonio, Texas, Donna Muszynski, Conshohocken, Pa., Deanna DeVillars, Cochranton, Pa.; six grandchildren, Kevin, Jillian, Eric, Allison, John, Emily and one brother, Ken Depledge, Falconer, N.Y.

Funeral services were conducted from the Ellery Baptist Church, 4487 Dutch Hollow Road, Bemus Point, N.Y., at noon on Monday, Aug. 1, 2011, with Reverend Nate Wood officiating. Interment was in the Fluvanna Cemetery, Jamestown, N.Y. Friends called on Saturday, July 30, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N.
