Barbara Ann Hileman

Oct 25, 2011

Barbara Ann Hileman, 66, of Hughesville, was granted her angel wings on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, at the Gatehouse. Her final days were spent surrounded by her family and friends. While her life was short, she influenced many with her spirit. Waiting for life’s journey to end, Barb decided to write her own obituary.

Born June 8, 1945, in Williamsport, Barb was the loving daughter of the late Marvin “Ted” Houseknecht. She was a 1963 alumna of Hughesville High School. Having been employed by Glamorise, Halls Station Sylvania and Primus, she retired in 2009. Barb was a Longaberger Consultant for 18 years and enjoyed traveling to Dresden, Ohio.

Barb enjoyed watching her grandson, Taylor Falk, play baseball and football. To Taylor’s teammates she became known as Barb, and many of them and their families continued to keep in touch with her. Anyone who knew Barb, even for a short time, knew about Taylor and the love and pride she felt for him.

Spending time with her neighbors, Jennifer and Rodney Buck and their twins, Sarah and Jacob, would bring a smile and laughter to her heart. Watching the twins water her beautiful flowers and ferns brought Barb great joy. They always seemed to water more than the plants.

Throughout her illness, her daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Paul Falk, were a constant support allowing her to spend as many of her last days as possible in her home. She took her body as far as it would allow. Memories of Barb’s giving ways and her courage will forever remain in the hearts of her friends and family.

Barb was a lifelong member of Kedron United Methodist Church, Strawbridge and belonged to Huntersville Senior Citizens.

In addition to her daughter, Crystal Falk, son-in-law, Paul Falk, and grandson, Taylor Falk, Barb is survived by her beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and cherished friends.

At Barb’s request, there will be no services.

If family and friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the Barbara Hileman Memorial Fund, c/o Sovereign Bank, 32 N. Main St., Hughesville, PA 17737. All donations will be used for renovations to Bodine Park. She spent many enjoyable hours at the ball field. Baseball at Bodine Park was part of Taylor’s life, a graduate of HHS class of 2009; therefore, it was a big part of Barb’s life.
