Stanley T. Houseknecht
Stanley T. Houseknecht, 90, of Lairdsville, died Monday, Oct. 31, 2011,
at his home.
Born Dec. 6, 1920, he was a son of the late Ralph S. and Mary L. Berger Houseknecht. His wife of 55 years, R. Geraldine “Gerry” Frantz, preceded him in death on July 21, 1998. Stanley was a graduate of the Muncy High S c h o o l , class of 1938. He was a World War
II veteran serving in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 35, Hughesville. Stanley was a truck driver most of his life, retiring from J&L, Smith Trucking Lines and as a courier for M&T Bank.
He was a member of the St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lairdsville, where he served on church council for many years. Stanley was also a member of Muncy Lodge 299 F.&A.M., a charter member of the Lairdsville Community Vol. Fire Co. and past president of the Lairdsville Cemetery Association. He enjoyed lawn mowing and was an avid Penn State fan.
Surviving are three daughters, Clarice L. Brubaker, Joan L. Stackhouse and Patricia A. (Cameron) Koons, all of Muncy; four grandchildren, Jeffrey A. Brubaker of Aurora, Colo., Ronald F. Brubaker of Northampton, William B. Stackhouse of Unityville and Amanda D. Miller of Philadelphia.
In addition to his wife and parents, Stanley was preceded in death by a son, Roger S. Houseknecht; two brothers, Charles N. Houseknecht and Dale B. Houseknecht; and a nephew, Lee N. Houseknecht.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Thursday, at the M c C a r t y – T h o m a s Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville. Burial followed in Lairdsville Cemetery with graveside military honors accorded by combined veterans organizations. Friends called from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
