Grace Pittenger Rose

Grace Pittenger Rose, 97, formerly of Muncy, died Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at her home in Williamsport.

Born Oct. 5, 1914, in Hughesville, she was a daughter, of the late Wilson and Alice Melinda (Fry) Temple. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 27 years, Charles Pittenger, who died Aug. 14, 1965, and her second husband of 33 years, Kenneth L. Rose, who died Jan. 18, 2000.

Grace was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening. She had also enjoyed being involved with the South Williamsport Seniors Group in the past.

Surviving are four sons, Foster (Shirley) Pittenger of Montoursville, Alvin (Alberta) Pittenger of Muncy, Leroy (Joyce) Pittenger of Williamsport and Donn (Barb) Pittenger of York; a stepson, Daniel (Gloria) Rose of Wilsyville, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many stepgrandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Charles and Kenneth, Grace was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin and Wilbur Temple and several stepchildren.

Funeral services were held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23 at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with the Rev. James R. Taylor, chaplain of SUN Home Hospice officiating. Interment followed in Montoursville Cemetery. Friends called from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
