Doris L. Bastian

Doris L. Bastian, 87, of Muncy, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at Riverwoods.

Born Jan. 23, 1924, in Montgomery, she was a daughter of the late Ezra A. and Pearl E. Dunn LeVan. Her husband of 61 years, Robert S. Bastian, preceded her in death on June 12, 2005.

Doris was a graduate of the Montgomery High School, Class of 1942 and served as a teacher’s aid for the Montgomery Elementary School. She was a devoted wife and mother who helped her husband operate the family farm for many years.

Doris was a member of the Community Baptist Church, Montoursville, where she was active in many church activities including the former Aggressive Adults group now known as Young at Heart. She also served as a pianist and organist for various churches over the years.

Surviving are three sons, Robert T. Bastian of Mississippi, Richard L. (Judy) Bastian of Lebanon and Keith L. (Twila) Bastian of Illinois; a sister, Geneva E. Hoover of Montgomery; seven grandchildren, Nicole Hertzog, B.J. Bastian, Kelley Progin, Ryanne Descano, Jeremiah Bastian, Jamie Timm and Jonathan Bastian; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by two brothers, Nelson and Kenneth LeVan; and two sisters, Reba Becht and Rose Smith.

A memorial service was held Jan. 4, 2012, at Community Baptist Church, 1853 Rt. 87 Highway, Montoursville, with the Rev. Lynn A. Wheeler officiating. A graveside service was held Wednesday at the Fairview Cemetery, Montgomery.
