Dorothy C. Story

Dorothy C. Story, 102, of Muncy, died Thursday, March 8, 2012, at the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit.

Born Feb. 27, 1910, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Emma Marie Chase Mason. Her husband of 45 years, Harold R. Story, preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1977.

Dorothy was a graduate of the Canton High School, class of 1927. She was a member of the Lungerville Christian Church and enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, refinishing antiques, cooking and canning. However, one of her greatest joys was spending time with her family.

Surviving are a son, Phillip M. (Susan) Story of Muncy; two daughters, Margaret A. (Bill) Bovee of Spotsylvania, Virginia and Florence E. (Bill) McCarty of Muncy; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, William R. Story and two grandsons, Phillip F. Story and Randy L. McCarty.

Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Monday, at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with Pastor James Harvey officiating. Burial followed in Lungerville Cemetery. Friends called from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
