Edith Steele Moore

Edith Steele Moore, 82, of 286 Confer Lane, Muncy, died Friday, March 9, 2012, at Valley View Nursing Center in Montoursville.

Born Sept. 3, 1929 in Colley, Sullivan County, she was a daughter of the late Burton and Annie (Junk) Steele. On Sept. 29, 1946, she married J. E. Moore, who survives.

Edith retired in the early 80’s from the former Warshaw Manufacturing in Montoursville, where she worked as a weaver. She was a dedicated member of First United Methodist Church, Muncy. Edith devoted her life to her family and her church, possessing a great love for her grandchildren and maintaining close relationships to her many friends. She also was a huge fan of the New York Yankees and was well known for her cooking skills.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 65 years are two daughters and one son-in-law, Pat Moore of Harrisburg and Sandy Moore and Brad Christ of Hershey; one son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Vikki Moore of Harrisburg; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a son, John, who died in 1997, and nine siblings.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13, at First United Methodist Church, 602 S. Market St., Muncy. Officiating was her pastor, Rev. Michael R. Gardy. Burial followed in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.

Friends were received from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.
