Carmen L. Ellis

Carmen L. Ellis, 81, a resident of Muncy, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2012, in the Valley View Nursing Center at Montoursville. Born in Muncy Creek Township, Lycoming County, Pa., on Monday, Feb. 2, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Leonard P. and Hilda (Minnier) Rishel.

Carmen was the widow of Oscar E. “Bud” Ellis Jr. who preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 2009.

She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church at Muncy. Carmen enjoyed needlework, word puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Carmen is survived by four children, Gale E. and Rick Sieg, Hughesville, Barb A. Ross, Shamokin Dam, R. Kenneth and Beverly Ellis, Hughesville, Lynne M. Ellis, Muncy; five grandchildren, Curtis Bennett, Brian Bennett, Jodie Ross, Sean Ross, Aaron Ellis; two sisters, Ann Iseley, Muncy, Florence Clayton, Tenn. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Carmen was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Rishel.

Funeral services were conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main St., Muncy, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2012, with Reverend David Culbertson, her pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends called on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Susquehanna Home Hospice or Susquehanna Palliative Care, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
