Donald E. Nickles

Donald E. Nickles, 74, of 322 Angletown Road, Muncy, died Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born June 26, 1937, in Muncy, he was a son of the late Scranton T. and Clara Mae (Martin) Nickles. On Aug. 1, 1981, he married the former Linda L. Tubbs, who survives. Together they celebrated 30 years of marriage.

Donald was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves. He was employed at the former Modecraft, Muncy, for a short time before opening Nickles Upholstery Shop. In 1972, Donald closed his shop and went to work at Grumman Allied for 23 years. In 1995, he reopened his upholstery shop, retiring in 2010.

Donald attended the First United Methodist Church, Muncy.

He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, playing cards and the company of his five cats.

Surviving in addition to his wife are one sister, Effie Bufford, of Kearney, Mo. and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Stanley Nickles in 1936 and Ervin Nickles in 1971.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, May 17 at the First United Methodist Church, 602 S. Market St., Muncy, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Officiating will be the church pastor, Rev. Michael Gardy.

The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
