Elizabeth A. “Beth” Smith

Elizabeth A. “Beth” Smith, 35, of Hughesville, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Geisinger Medical Center, following a courageous battle with sarcoma. She was born, Dec. 23, 1976, in Danville, a daughter of James D. and Christie A. (Odell) Foresman.

On Aug. 8, 2008, she married Richard C. “Rick” Smith, who survives.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hughesville. In 1995, Beth graduated from Hughesville High School and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, from Mansfield University in 2000. Beth has been employed as the Family Place Coordinator at the James V. Brown Library, Williamsport, for the past five years. She loved being around kids, reading, cross stitching, music, dancing, singing and had been involved with the Community Theater League production of “The Beauty and the Beast.”

In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by her son, James Carl Smith, at home; two brothers, Seth J. and Joseph R. Foresman, both of State College; and nieces and nephew, Mckenna, Kaitlyn and Zane.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 122 S. Main St., Hughesville, with Rev. Cinda Brucker officiating. The family will receive friends at the church, Wednesday, from 9 a.m. till the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hughesville Area Public Library, 146 S. 5th St., Hughesville, PA 17737.

Beth’s family would like to thank all of her friends, far and wide, for their support over the past year. The fundraisers and many other activities surrounding “Book it for Beth” were appreciated beyond words.
