Margaret L. Aunkst

Margaret L. (Peggy) Aunkst, 70, a resident of Muncy, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2012, at her residence. Born in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pa., on Sunday, Nov. 23, 1941, she was the daughter of the late L. Ernest and Alene (Rose) Derr.

She was the wife of Wayne L. Aunkst with whom she celebrated a 49th wedding anniversary on June 16, 2011.

Peggy was a 1960 graduate of Williamsport High School. She was last employed by the Watsontown Christian Academy Day Care Center and had previously been employed by Lending Textile at Montgomery.

She was a member of the Delaware Run Wesleyan Church. In addition to her husband, Peggy is survived by four children, Timothy W. (Deb) Aunkst, Muncy, Wanda L. (Randall) Jordan, Milesburg, Karen M. (Anthony) Iezzi, Gray, Tenn., John W. (Beth) Aunkst, Montgomery; two sisters, Bernice Harriman, Williamsport, Jean Crain, Williamsport; and one brother, L. Ernest Derr Sr., Cogan Station. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Peggy was preceded in death by three sisters, Edna Salayda, Elsie Derr, Sarah Hetzel and one granddaughter.

Funeral services were conducted from the Delaware Run Wesleyan Church, 5570 Musser Lane, Watsontown, Pa., at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2012, with Rev. Michael C. Reece, her pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends called on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. or on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. The family provided the flowers.
