Shirley Ann Hofer
Shirley Ann Hofer, 84, a longtime resident of Pennsdale, and formerly of Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village in Lewisburg, died Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Sycamore Manor, Montoursville, where she resided the past few years.
Born Jan. 16, 1928, in Muncy, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Marguerite (Artley) Gortner. On Oct. 20, 1956, she married G. Robert Hofer, with whom she shared 55 years.
Shirley was a 1946 graduate of Muncy High School. She previously worked as an assembler at the former G.T.E. Sylvania in Montoursville. Shirley was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Pennsdale, and was also a member of the Monsey Chapter 481, Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, David Hofer, of Muncy, and Kirk Hofer and wife Zoe, of Chicago, Ill.; one daughter, Beth Medley and husband Forrest, of W. Friendship, Md.; four sisters, Ernestine Seitzinger, of Montoursville, Lorraine Ross and husband Jay, of Loyalsock, and Lorretta Myers and Donna Stroup, both of Columbus, Ohio; and six grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one brother, Fred Gortner and one sister, Mary Louise Gortner.
The funeral was at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Pennsdale. Officiating was her minister, Pastor Rob Ransom, and her nephew, Rev. Robert Stroup II, Bybee United Methodist Church, Waco, Ky. Burial followed in Muncy Cemetery.
Friends were received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where an Eastern Star service was held at 7:45 p.m.
