Edith Belle Sampsell

Edith Belle Sampsell, 91, of Williamsport, died Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Rose View Center, Williamsport.

Born March 12, 1921 in Fairfield Township, she was a daughter of the late George W. and Jennie (Biddle) Karschner. She and her husband of 54 years, Terry F. Sampsell, were married April 30, 1955. He preceded her in death February 23, 2010.

Edith was employed as a waitress and manager at various local restaurants, most recently at the former Mancini’s Steakhouse, Williamsport.

She was a member of DuBoistown United Methodist Church.

Surviving are one grandson, Terry Denius of VA; one daughter-in-law, Vera Jean Denius of VA; six step grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Edith was predeceased by one son, Charles Denius, Jr. in 1993; six brothers, Leonard, Clyde, Ernest, Rev. Lester, LeRoy and Harry Karschner; and one sister, Louella Griggs.

Friends were received from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the DuBoistown United Methodist Church, 133 Summer St., Duboistown, where the funeral was held at 11 a.m. Officiating was her minister, Pastor John Baney. Burial followed in Muncy Cemetery.

The family provided the flowers and suggests contributions in Edith’s name be made to the S.P.C.A., 2805 Reach Rd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
