N. Edward Heincelman
N. Edward Heincelman, 66, of Derwood, MD, died surrounded by family on September 1 at the Montgomery Hospice Casey House in Derwood.
Ed was born May 22, 1946 in Muncy, PA. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1968, after which time he served in the U.S. Army, including a year-long tour in Vietnam.
Ed moved to Maryland in 1972 and married his wife Jeanne in 1973. He taught and coached wrestling in the Montgomery County Public School system for more than 30 years. While teaching and coaching, Ed gained many friends and earned numerous accolades. He was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and the Muncy High School Athletic Hall of Fame for his many personal wrestling accomplishments, and he will be inducted into Einstein High School’s Hall of Fame for his coaching accomplishments.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Traci; he is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jeanne Heincelman, his son and daughter-in-law Marc and Sarah Heincelman of Charleston, SC, and his sister and brother-in-law Terre and John Belt of Davidsonville, MD.
Friends were invited to a Memorial Service on Tuesday, September 4 at 7 p.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 17740 Muncaster Road, Derwood, MD 20855.
