Alice Louise Hilner
Alice Louise Hilner, 93, of Hughesville, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
Born Jan. 23, 1919, in Hughesville, she was a daughter of the late J. Monroe and Mary Ida Croman Phillips. Her husband of 42 years, William H. Hilner, preceded her in death on March 17, 1983.
Alice was a kind and faithful servant who radiated love and compassion to those around her. She attended the Pleasant View Wesleyan Church, Muncy. In her earlier years, she was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed hunting and snowmobiling. She continued to stay active though gardening and fishing. Education was very important to Alice as well; reading, keeping up with current events, anything to further enhance her knowledge of the world around her. She retired from the State Correctional Facility, Muncy. Alice also loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her dog, Snowflake.
Surviving are a brother, Donald (Barbara) Phillips of Muncy; a granddaughter, Michelle Parker; two great-grandchildren, Alexis Parker and Jordan Crociante; and several nieces and nephews with whom she shared special relationships.
In addition to her parents and husband, Alice was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Wayne Hilner; and three sisters, Beatrice Martin, Evelyn Ritter and Hilda Ritter.
Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Friday at Pleasant View Wesleyan Church, 994 E. Penn St., Muncy, with the Rev. Stephen R. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends called from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville.
