Catherine Ruth Saffel
Catherine Ruth Saffel, Muncy, Pa., passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord, Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, at the home of her son, Wayne, after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Delbert Charles Saffel.
Born Jan. 20, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Adelade Miller. She was educated in Picture Rocks Schools and was employed at Carey McFalls for 25 years.
She was an active member of the Huntersville United Methodist Church and the Huntersville Senior Citizens.
Even through her illness, she brought much love, joy and laughter to all “you ins”.
She is survived by son, Charles Saffel and wife Janice, Williamsport and her son, Wayne Saffel and wife Joann of Scranton who were her caretakers; eight grandchildren, Chad Saffel of Berwick, Brandy Long of Milton, Dusteen Maggs of Salladasburg, Michelle Saffel of Mechanicsburg, Melinda Wolo of Dickson City, Heather Christie, Holly Hunt and Michael Abbott, all of Scranton; and seven great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Quentin Miller, George Milo Miller and sister, June Miller.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to caretakers, granddaughters Heather Christe and Holly Hunt for the exceptional love and care they gave to their grandmother as well as the Commonwealth Hospice of NEPA for their care and compassion. We couldn’t have gone through the last 18 months without you.
Funeral services were held at noon Thursday, September 27 at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with the Rev. Rob Ransom officiating. Burial followed in Webster Cemetery, Huntersville. Friends called from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday at the funeral home.
