Eloise E. Matthews
Eloise E. Matthews, 97, of Hughesville, passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, in Valley View Nursing Center.
She was born Jan. 3, 1915, in Calvert, Pa., the daughter of Reuben and Mary (Michaels) Entz.
Eloise was married to the late George Weber Matthews who passed in 1982, whom she married Oct. 10, 1934. If they were both living they would have celebrated their 78th wedding anniversary this month on the tenth.
Surviving are two sons, John H. Matthews of Marsh Hill and Larry R. (Sharon) Matthews of Troy; daughters, Mary E. (Elton) Treese of Hughesville, Evelyn M. (Clifton) Holdren of Trout Run, Kathy A. Schuler of Watsontown; a stepson, George W. Matthews of Allentown; and a stepdaughter, Ellen Rae (Robert) Houston of Lake Ridge, Va.; three sisters, Evelyn Eisner of Williamsport, Helen Moore of Muncy and Magdeline Butler of Hughesville; 17 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by brothers, Earl Entz and Russell Entz and sister, Lilly Jane Roles.
Relatives and friends were invited to Eloise’s Life Celebration service noon Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at the James C. Maneval Funeral Home, Ltd., “A Life Celebration Home,” 500 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, with Pastor Doug Graybill officiating. A visitation was from 10 a.m. until noon. Burial was in Wildwood Cemetery.
