Ruth Travelette Hritzko

Ruth Travelette Hritzko, 94, of 1566 Northway Road, Williamsport, died Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at home.

Born August 2, 1918 in Milton, she was a daughter of the late Irwin Harry and Ruth E. (McClintock) Travelette. On Feb. 14, 2001 she married Leonard L. Hritzko, who survives.

A graduate of Hughesville High School, she attended Wheaton’s School of Commerce and Goodwin’s School of Business. She was employed by the Office of Inspection of Naval Material during and after World War II. Ruth possessed a strong interest in fashion, and became manager of the former Flair Shop, a woman’s specialty store which was located in the Loyal Plaza in Williamsport. She retired in 1983 after 20 years of employment.

A 74-year member of Pine Street United Methodist Church, Williamsport, she joined the church along with her family in 1938.

Ruth maintained a keen interest in both world affairs and local activities. In her spare time she enjoyed reading and music.

In addition to her husband she is survived by a nephew, John F. Byerly and his wife Jeanne of Merritt Island, FL, as well as other nephews, nieces and many wonderful friends.

She is predeceased by her parents; her husbands, Harold M. Bowman and Major Robert Kershaw; her sisters, Reta T. Barto and M. Elizabeth Byerly; and a nephew, Hugh S. Forquer.

Friends were received from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where a memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Officiating was Jane Stahl Lentz, Visitation Minister, Pine Street United Methodist Church, Williamsport. Burial followed in Muncy Cemetery.

The family provided the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to Pine Street United Methodist Church, 441 Pine St., Williamsport, PA 17701 or a charity of one’s choice.
