Ralph L. Lowe
Ralph L. Lowe, 58, of Picture Rocks, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
Born Nov. 12, 1953, in Muncy, he was a son of June and the late Brady Lowe. He and his wife, the former Beverly A. Gavitt, celebrated 19 years of marriage on May 22, 2012.
Ralph graduated in 1974, from the former Williamsport Area Community College, with a degree in horticulture. He was employed at Andritz for many years, Watsontown Foundry and most recently at TJ’s Market, Hughesville. He was President of Woodmen Muncy Lodge 717 and was a member of Moreland Baptist Church, where he enjoyed participating in the Last Supper drama.
Before his health declined, Ralph enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid gardener. Earlier in life he enjoyed giving back to his community by mentoring with the Big Brother program, coaching the Picture Rocks girls’ softball team and as assistant coach for the Muncy High School girls’ softball team. Ralph loved his cats, but most recently stated one of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his nieces and nephews.
Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are a brother, Jon Lowe of Maryland; two sisters, Anita Watts and Joan Lowe, both of Muncy; a nephew, Frank (Amy) Shetler and their children, Jessica and Matthew of Picture Rocks; a niece, Amanda (Tim) Besermin of Wilkes-Barre; and several additional nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at the Moreland Baptist Church, 118 Moreland Baptist Road, Muncy, with the Rev. Robert Ingraham officiating. Friends called from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
