Donald L. Frey

Donald L. Frey, 67, of Unityville, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at the Gatehouse.

Born Oct. 17, 1945, in Canton, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Leona Brown Frey. He and his wife, Maureen Swisher, were recently married on Sept. 1, 2012.

Donald was a graduate of Loyalsock High School, Class of 1963, and served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed with Hembury Communications, Pittston, for over 15 years, and was a member of the Sullivan County Kiwanis Club and the American Legion Riders.

Donald was a very caring and compassionate person who loved helping his family and friends through various acts of kindness. He attended the Franklin-Bethel United Methodist Church and was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycle and bicycling. Donald also enjoyed collecting art and loved spending time with his grandchildren and his “adopted grandkids, nieces and nephews.”

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Donald L. Frey II and his wife Laurie of Cleveland, Ohio and Randall A. Frey of Granville Summit; a brother, Lawrence Frey Jr. and Bea McCue of Shunk; two sisters, Ina Harding and her husband, Ted of Athens and Lillian Waldeisen of Williamsport; and six grandchildren, Alexander, Kyler, Andrew, Dylan, Haley and Brandon.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at Franklin-Bethel United Methodist Church, Unityville, with Rev. James Sunderland Jr., Rev. Dan Cale and Rev. James Delong officiating. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
