Samuel James Derr (Sam), 22, of 604 Upper Rynearson Road, Muncy (Huntersville), passed away October 21, 2012.?He was born on February 3, 1990 in Williamsport to Michael L. and Karen K. (Koch) Derr of Huntersville.?Sam graduated from Hughesville High School in 2008. After high school he went on to serve in the U.S. Army stationed at Camp Humphreys, South Korea and Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He worked as a Chinook Mechanic. Recently, he worked alongside his father in Service and Sales at Leading Electronics. He was an avid reader. His interests included Boy Scouts, band, chorus and soccer. In the Army everyone knew him as an all around great guy and friend who was often seen riding his unicycle. Sam established friends all around the globe. He was also known as being adventurous and always exploring.?Surviving in addition to his parents are a brother, Jason Koch of Hughesville; maternal grandparents, Allen Koch Sr. of Muncy and Nancy Sessamen of Elimsport; and one niece, Kassidy Koch.?He was predeceased by his sister, Nichole Derr, and his paternal grandparents, James and Louise (Nyman) Derr.?His ashes were placed with his sister at Huntersville Trinity Cemetery, Huntersville, Pennsylvania.?Friends were received at Nancy and Johnny’s Country Tavern, 3146 Quaker Church Rd., Muncy on Saturday, October 27, 2012 starting at 10 a.m. with a Memorial Service held at noon and luncheon to follow. Officiating was a family friend, Rev. Michael Istre.?The family provided flowers and suggests contributions in Sam’s name be made to Huntersville Trinity Cemetery and mailed c/o Grenoble’s, 121 S.Main St., Muncy, PA 17756.
