LaRue W. “Rudy” Harding
LaRue W. “Rudy” Harding, 86, of Hughesville, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at his home.
Born Nov. 9, 1926, in Penn Township, Lycoming County, he was a son of the late George T. and Edith S. Warn Harding. He and his wife, the former Jean F. Moser-Sanders, celebrated nine years of marriage on Aug. 23, 2012.
Rudy was a graduate of Sonestown High School, class of 1945. He farmed his family farm nearly his entire life and was the sexton of Muncy Cemetery for 17 years. Rudy was a member of the Muncy Valley Moose and enjoyed dancing with Billtown Squares and eating at various local restaurants.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three stepsons, Douglas W. Sanders of Virginia, Michael E. (Kimberly) Sanders of Watsontown and Kevin L. Sanders of Muncy; two stepdaughters, Phyllis J. (Ernie) Temple of Virginia and Carol A. Kitchen of Michigan; two brothers, William (Dorthea) Harding of New Jersey and Robert (Barbara) Harding of Hughesville; two sisters, Shirley (Bob Franklin) Crawley of Hughesville and Elizabeth (Steve) Swisher of Hughesville; eight stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, LaRue was preceded in death by a stepmother, Pauline Rider Harding.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Thursday, at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with Pastor Jane L. O’Borski officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville. Friends called from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
