Lynn E. Vandine
Lynn E. Vandine, 63, of Nordmont, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at his home.
Born Dec. 13, 1948, in Muncy, he was a son of Jean L. and the late Charles C. Vandine.
Lynn was a graduate of Sullivan County High School, Class of 1966 and served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.Following his employment with Penn DOT in 1984, Lynn became the proprietor of Vandine’s General Store, carrying on his family’s heritage until 1990. He would later be employed at the Russell Myers Sawmill.
Lynn was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Nordmont and the American Legion Post 268, Muncy. He was a talented welder and mechanic who also enjoyed John Deere tractors, hunting and fishing.
Surviving, in addition to his mother of Nordmont, are a daughter, Jennifer Y. Vandine of Nordmont; four sons, Thomas L. (Stephanie) Vandine of Groton, Conn., Scott L. (Donna Remley) Vandine of Nordmont, Jeremy L. (Misty) Vandine of Nordmont and Gregory L. (Mandy) Vandine of Picture Rocks; two sisters, Suzanne (Richard) Jordan of Muncy Valley and Holly (Dennis) McFadden of Farragut; eight grandchildren, Ericka and Scotty Vandine, Desiree, Cassidy and Charlie Vandine, Sequoya Vandine, David Conrad and Landyn Vandine; a great-grandchild, Rylynn Baver; and a former wife, Kathleen A. Vandine of Nordmont.
In addition to his father, Lynn was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Layne Charles Shaffer.
A memorial service was held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with the Rev. Craig Livermore officiating. Friends called from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Military honors were accorded by combined veterans organizations.
