LaVerne E. “Toot” Tice
LaVerne E. “Toot” Tice, 87, formerly of Montgomery and Muncy, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, in The Gatehouse at Williamsport. Born in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pa., on Monday, Dec. 7, 1925, he was the son of the late Earl and Louise (Artley) Tice.
LaVerne was the husband of Coralyn E. (Bennett) Tice with whom he celebrated a 56th wedding anniversary on March 31, 2012.
Toot honorably served during the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Army. He was last employed by Burns Security and was previously employed by the former Montgomery Mills.He was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church at Montgomery. Toot was a social member of Watsontown American Legion Post. He and his wife were foster parents.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Edward E. and Susan Tice, Williamsport; two brothers, John Tice, Henrietta, N.Y.; Charles Tice, Williamsport and two grandchildren, Megan R. Tice and Daniel E.J. Tice.
Funeral services were conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main St., Muncy at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, with Rev. Hobart G. Campbell, his pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Green Lawn Memorial Park. Friends called on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
