Christopher B. Shellhamer

Christopher B. Shellhamer, 36, formerly of Montgomery, Pa., passed away unexpectedly following a lengthy illness on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, in Lansing, Kan. Born in Long Branch, Monmouth County, N.J., on Sunday, June 20, 1976, he was the son of Rev. Dr. Ronald E. and Kathie (Bauer) Shellhamer of Williamsport, Pa.

Chris was a 1994 graduate of Montgomery High School. He honorably served with the U.S. Army and continued his military service with contracted security forces having served in Iraq, South Korea, Kosovo and other international sites.

Chris was of the Lutheran faith.In addition to his parents, he is survived by five children, Joseph Shellhamer, Bryan Shellhamer, Christopher Shellhamer Jr., Mariana Shellhamer, Robert Shellhamer; one sister, Jennifer Shellhamer, Texas; and his maternal grandparents, Otto and Florence Bauer, Freehold, N.J. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. Chris was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Louis and Evelyn Shellhamer.

Funeral services were conducted from the St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 2233 Linn St., Williamsport, Pa., at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, with Rev. Richard Fangman, pastor of the Zion Lutheran Church at Sunbury, officiating. Interment was in the Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends called on Friday from noon to 1 p.m. at the church. Graveside military services were conducted by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County Honor Guard. The family provided the flowers. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Academia (a school of autism and children of special needs), C/O Drs.
