Ray L. Heberling
Ray L. Heberling, 90, of 167 Heberling Road, Muncy, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born Oct. 29, 1922 in Muncy, he was a son of the late Lewis and Florence (Blue) Heberling. His wife of 59 years, the former Betty Jane Musser, preceded him in death on Oct. 22, 2006.
Ray was a 1940 graduate of Muncy High School and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired in 1986 after nearly 40 years of employment with Sprout Waldron, now Andritz, in Muncy, where he was superintendent of the machine shop and a member of the Quarter Century Club.
Ray was a member of First United Methodist Church, Muncy.
One of Ray’s favorite hobbies was fly fishing, and he was a former member of Strawbridge Fishing Club. In his spare time he also liked refinishing furniture and gardening. He was extremely fond of his grandsons, and never missed any event they were involved in.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Luann and Dr. William Bartlow of Muncy; one brother and sister-in-law, Lynn and Elsie Heberling of Muncy; one sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Norval Moore of Erie; and two grandsons, Andrew and Christopher Bartlow.
In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by two sisters, Janice Griggs and Virginia Heberling.
Friends were received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral was held on Monday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m. Officiating was Pastor Rob Ransom of Trinity and Huntersville United Methodist Churches. Burial with full military honors followed in Muncy Cemetery.
