Glen W. Derrick Sr.

Glen W. Derrick Sr., 89, of Picture Rocks, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Milton Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.

Born Sept. 30, 1923, in Unityville, he was a son of the late Elmer A. and Euphamy Eldora Snyder Derrick. His wife of 65 years, Vivian J. Hartman Derrick, preceded him in death on Aug. 4, 2011.

Glen retired from the former Sprout-Waldron, Muncy, and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was also a member of the Muncy Valley Moose, Picture Rocks Fire Dept., Picture Rocks Bocce league and Picture Rocks United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir for many years. He loved hunting and fishing, making wine, attending the Lewisburg Farmer’s Market, calling square dances and above all, spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are a daughter, Connie J. (Norman) Baysore of Hughesville; two sons, Gary O. (Patricia) Derrick of Dewart, and Glen W. (Dorothy) Derrick Jr. of Picture Rocks; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

In addition to his parents and wife, Glen was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services were held noon Monday, Feb. 25, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with Rev. Max L. Walters Jr. officiating. Burial followed in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Talmar. Friends called from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at the funeral home.
