John Burton Johnson III
John Burton Johnson III, 48, of Unityville died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013.
Born April 26, 1964, in Bloomsburg, he was a son of Constance E. Martz Cropf and the late John B. Johnson II. He and his wife, the former Angela L. Kishbaugh, would have celebrated 27 years of marriage on July 11, 2013.
John was an avid horseman who also enjoyed working construction and farming. He was a very loving and caring person who was always there to lend a hand, or even his home, to those in need. One of John’s greatest joys was spending time with his family, and his many extended family members as well.
Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are six sons, Corey L. (Virginia Mingle) Kishbaugh of Unityville, John C. (Karrie Styer) Johnson of Unityville, Chester C. (Katyln Holmes-Swank) Swank of Fayetteville, N.C., Adam W. (Amber Prentiss) Gavitt of Benton, Jaime L. Widell of Hughesville and Tyler J. Spako of Hillsgrove; three daughters, Chelsey A. (Jason Bower) Johnson of Bloomsburg, Kate L. (Brandon Bailey) Hamilton of Hughesville and Christina L. (Shane Richart) Herring of Benton; three sisters, Joanne (Terry) Faus of Oregon City, Ore., Kelly Johnson of Berwick and Anna V. (Jim) Cargile of Charleston, Tenn.; a brother, Douglas (Tammy) Cropf of Charleston, Tenn.; and 20 grandchildren.
In addition to his father, John was preceded in death by a daughter, Victoria Ashley Koser.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with Rev. Allen F. Acor officiating. Burial followed in Gordner’s Cemetery, Unityville. Friends called from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
