Helen Florence Nicholas
Helen Florence Nicholas, 92, formerly of 275 Trinity Dr., Hughesville, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Wolf Run Village Assisted Living, Hughesville.
Born July 6, 1920, in Palmer Township, Northampton County, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Asher and Florence (Laros) Saylor.
On Nov. 25, 1937, she married Woodrow Wilson Nicholas. Together they celebrated 74 years of marriage before his death Sept. 23, 2012.
Helen was a 1936 graduate of Wilson Boro High School and a graduate of Churchman Business College. She was employed for 13 years in sales at Orr’s Department Store and retired from Easton National Bank & Trust, now Wells Fargo, after 24 years of service.
Helen was a former 70 year member of Memorial United Church of Christ, Easton, where she served as a deacon, a Sunday school teacher and was a member of the Amity Class. Helen was a member of the Muncy Presbyterian Church, the Muncy Valley Hospital Auxiliary and the Muncy Garden Club.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Richard Leaver of Hughesville; one granddaughter, Ashlee Hoch and husband Brian of Herndon; two great-grandsons, Zachary Renn and Bryant Hoch; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a grandson, Nicholas Leaver; one sister, Grace Lieberman; and two brothers, Stanley and Sterling Saylor.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran and United Church of Christ Cemetery, Farmersville.
