James W. Brink
James W. “Bill” Brink, 88, a resident of Picture Rocks, Pa., passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013, in the Sycamore Manor Health Center. Born in Picture Rocks, Lycoming County, Pa., on Sunday, Dec. 7, 1924, he was the son of the late John and Blanche (Collins) Brink.
Bill was the widower of Reba (Wentz) Brink who preceded him in death on April 5, 1984.
He was a 1942 graduate of the former Picture Rocks High School and attended the former Williamsport Technical Institute. He honorably served with the U.S. Army in both World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Bill was employed as a highway inspection engineer supervisor by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation at Montoursville, Pa., retiring in 1976.
He was a member of the Picture Rocks Baptist Church, a life time member of the Edward J. Smith V.F.W. Post 3428 at Muncy and a member of American Legion Post 35 at Hughesville. He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Hickory Flats Rod and Gun Club.
Bill is survived by four children, John C. Brink, Muncy, Pa., W. David and Diane Brink, Muncy, Pa., Mary E. and John Harris, Picture Rocks, Pa., J. Daniel and Julie Brink, Muncy, Pa.; three grandchildren, Madeline Brink, McKelvey Brink, Breanne Phillips; one niece, Paula Laughner; and one nephew, Peter Laughner. In addition to his wife, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Laughner and his brother, John Brink.
Graveside funeral services were conducted in the Picture Rocks Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2013, with Curtis R. Lauchle, pastor of the Old Time Baptist Church, officiating. Friends called on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main St., Muncy, Pa. Graveside military honors were accorded by the joint veterans organizations.
