Doris Baynes

Doris Baynes, 65, of Portsmouth, RI, and formerly of Millville, died Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Steere House, Providence, RI.

Born September 9, 1947 in Millville, she was a daughter of the late Glenn and Ruth (Smith) Meckley. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Thomas Baynes.

Doris was an active member of the United Congregational Church, Middletown, RI, where she was currently serving as the assistant treasurer, and formerly served on the board of Deacons.

She was an avid gardener, a foster parent, active in Haiti support programs, and volunteered as a docent at Blithewold Mansions, Bristol, RI.

Surviving are one sister, Dorothy Shaner, of Millville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by a brother, Roy Meckley.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today, on Wednesday, April 3, at the chapel in Twin Hills Memorial Park, 3332 Lycoming Mall Drive, Muncy, with interment to follow.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
