Eleanor G. Womelsdorf
Eleanor G. Womelsdorf, 96, formerly of Muncy, died Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Elmcroft of Loyalsock.
Born September 24, 1916 in Muncy, she was a daughter of the late Benton L and Susan (Glaze) Shipman. Her husband of 54 yerars, Max L. Womelsdorf, died April 12, 1993.
Eleanor was a 1935 graduate of Muncy High School. She was employed as a secretary at the former McCormick Dray Lines in Muncy for twelve years.
Eleanor was a member of the Muncy Business and Professional Women’s Club and previously a member of the Tuesday Study Club. She was also a former member of the Monsey Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star 481.
In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, playing cards, crocheting, and traveling. She also sewed many bears that she donated to the Muncy Valley Hospital, where she volunteered.
Surviving are one son, Lee Womelsdorf; a former daughter-in-law, Karen Womelsdorf of Muncy; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Frances Hall and Egbert Hall, Jr. of Muncy and Loretta Dildine of Auburn, AL; two granddaughters, Stacie Nierzwicki and her husband Stan and Kelli Holmes and her husband Brett, all of Muncy; four great-granddaughters, Kiley Nierzwicki, Kaylyn Nierzwicki, Addyson Holmes and Aliza Holmes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by three brothers, Amos, Clinton and Charles Shipman, five sisters, Margaret Reece, Louise Wetherill, Tranie Snyder, Lucille Lyons and Catherine Ritter.
Friends were received from 11 a.m. to noon Monday, April 1, 2013 at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral was held at noon, with Rev. Cinda Brucker, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating.
Burial followed in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
