Jon “Ed or Eddy” Hoover
Jon “Ed or Eddy” Hoover, 74, of Picture Rocks, died Friday, April 12, 2013, at the Muncy Valley Hospital, Skilled Nursing Unit.
On Aug. 7, 1938, he was born in South Williamsport, a son of the late John Victor and Mary Elizabeth (Walters) Hoover. On June 26, 1971, he married Evelyn Marie Mosher, who survives.
He attended Rock Run Assembly of God Church. Earlier in life he was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Williamsport, where he taught Sunday School and Bible School. He had also been a member of Hope of Glory Bible Church, Muncy, where he led a small group called the “Eager Beavers”.
Ed graduated from Hughesville High School, class of 1957. He retired from the Williamsport Hospital, dietary department, in 1989, after 15 years of service. Earlier in life, he worked for the former Modecraft. From his high school days, Ed enjoyed meteorology, paying close attention to all the weather patterns available and offering his own predictions. He enjoyed going on bus trips, collecting movies, bowling and cheering on the Yankees.
In addition to his wife of 42 years, he is survived by brother-in-law, Arthur Karge, Picture Rocks; niece, Gale (Jeff) Shalango, Sunbury; nephew, Philip Karge, West Springfield, Mass.; great-nephew, James Shalango, Sunbury; and many cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 17 in the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, by Pastor Joe Wagner of the God’s Family Fellowship Church, Wellsboro. The interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville.
