Josephine A. Barnhart
Josephine A. Barnhart, 94, formerly of Muncy and Lock Haven, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Sycamore Manor, Montoursville.
Born Sept. 1, 1918, in Tyrone, she was a daughter of the late Bray O. and Edna C. (Gingery) Yost. On March 31, 1937, she married Clair O. “Bus” Barnhart, who preceded her in death Jan. 26, 1991.
Josephine was a graduate of Lock Haven High School.
She worked at Sylvania, Wire Rope and Derr’s Stationary Store, Lock Haven. Josephine and her husband also operated the B and K Grocery on Bellefonte Ave., Lock Haven.
She was a life member of the United Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lock Haven, where she was one of the oldest living members and a past advisor to the Lutheran League Youth Group.
Josephine was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Auxiliary and the Bald Eagle Ridgerunners Camping Club.
She enjoyed collecting dolls and going to yard sales.
Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Barbara B. and Jack McLean, of Muncy and Carroll Keister, of Levittown; one sister, Lena Welsh; five grandchildren, Linda Donnelly and her husband Todd, Bruce McLean, Jason McLean and his wife Kristin, Leslie Brymer and her husband Clark, and Penny Neuman and her husband David; 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one daughter, Diane Catherine Barnhart; one son-in-law, Raymond Keister Sr.; two grandsons, Matthew Alan Keister and Raymond Keister Jr.; and three brothers and two sisters.
Friends were received from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the United Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1 Church St., Lock Haven, where the funeral was held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Karl Runser officiating.
Burial will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions be made to the United Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1 Church St., Lock Haven, PA 17745.
