Patty L. Shuck

Patty L. Shuck, 74, Hughesville, died April 23, 2013, at The Gatehouse.

She was born June 7, 1938, in Muncy, a daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy (Confer) Mingle. On June 9, 1956, she married the late James L. Shuck, who died Sept. 16, 2008.

She was a member of the Hughesville Baptist Church, where she served on the finance and social committees.

She graduated from Warrior Run Area High School, class of 1956. Patty retired from the State Police, Montoursville, after 18 years as a clerk typist. She had also retired as the bookkeeper for the former Home Heating Service in 1992, after 34 years, working closely with her sister-in-law Lucille Mingle, in the family business.

Patty was a member of the Wynding Brook Golf Course, where she was the reigning Senior Woman’s Champion, for the past three years.

On Aug. 4, 2002, she had her only hole-in-one.

She loved golfing, spending winters in Florida with her husband golfing, but most of all her family and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, James (Mary) Shuck, Huntingdon and Gregory (Christine) Shuck, Muncy; daughter, Luann Shuck, with whom she lived; six grandchildren, Katie Ulmer, Kyle Robbins, Jenna Shuck, Shawn Shuck, Sarah Shuck and Leah Shuck; six great-grandchildren, Declan, Cadence, Kieran, Asher, Kolbin and Conner; four brothers, Wayne (Nancy) Mingle; Frederick (Lucille) Mingle; Gary (RuthAnn) Mingle; Ronald (Stephanie) Mingle; six sisters, Virginia (Hescal) Richards, Faye Boyles, Jean (William) Curry, Joyce (Carl) Vargo, Linda Coffin and Donna (Bruce) Wehler.

In addition to her husband of 52 years and parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Robert Mingle and a sister, Betty Dommell.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, officiated by Rev. Thomas W. Brokaw.

The interment was in the Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. The family received friends in the funeral home 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
