Rev. D. Gene Patterson
Rev. D. Gene Patterson, 66, of Picture Rocks, formerly of Muncy and Ulysses, died Saturday, April 20, 2013, in The Gatehouse, Williamsport. Born May 5, 1946, in Wellsville, N.Y., he was a son of Clair A. and Elva Monroe Patterson.
On June 9, 1973, in Corning, N.Y., he married the former Janet Marmor, who survives.
A graduate of Northern Potter High School, Lock Haven University and Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, he served as pastor of the Watsontown, White Deer Valley and Muncy Baptist Churches, for 31 years, retiring in 2004.
An avid genealogist, he was a member of five historical societies and eight patriotic lineage societies, including the Mayflower Society and the Sons of the American Revolution.
In the SAR, he held National, State and Local offices, including Chaplain General of the National Society, president of the Pennsylvania Society, and president of the Tiadaghton and General James Potter Chapters.
He was a member of the Picture Rocks Baptist Church and he sang with the West Branch Chorale for 30 seasons.
Surviving besides his wife, Janet, are a daughter, Mary P. (Eric) Talerico, Lawrenceville, N.J.; a son, Thomas M. Patterson, Picture Rocks; a brother, Bruce Patterson, Pflegerville, Texas; a nephew, David H. (Elizabeth) Patterson, Plainville, Conn.; an aunt, Florence Buckley, Ulysses; and many cousins.
Friends may call 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 27, 2013, at the Picture Rocks Baptist Church, with a memorial service following at noon.
Susquehanna Health Hospice Chaplain, Rev. David Fishel, will officiate.
Burial will be in the Daniels Cemetery, Bingham Township, near Ulysses, 3 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2013.
