Salvatore “Sal” Maiorana
Salvatore “Sal” Maiorana, 68, of Heim Hill Rd., Montoursville, died suddenly Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
Born July 25, 1944 in Carini, Palermo, Italy, he was a son of the late Croce and Antonina (Mazzamuto) Maiorana. On June 26, 1978 he married the former Maria Sgroi, who survives. Together they celebrated 34 years of marriage.
While living in Italy, Sal served in the infantry of the Italian Army.
Having an interest and working in the restaurant business all his life, he and his brother opened the former Capri Pizza in the Lycoming Mall in 1980. Sal was currently the owner of Joe’s Pizza, Williamsport.
He was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, Muncy.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four sons and two daughters-in-law, Croce and Jennifer Maiorana of Muncy, Vincenzo Maiorana and Jonathan Maiorana both of Montoursville and David and Brook Maiorana of Muncy; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Giuseppe Maiorana of Williamsport and Antonino and Maria Maiorana of Italy; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Giuseppa and Matteo Lo Duca of Italy, Ninetta and Giacomo LaFata of Italy and Domenica and Vincenzo Lopiccolo of Italy; and five grandchildren, Alexander, Roman, Salvatore, Sophie and Mia.
Friends were received from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 27, at the Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy, where a Mass of Christian Burial was held at noon. Officiating was his pastor, Rev. Glenn McCreary. Burial followed in Montoursville Cemetery.
The family provided the flowers, and suggests contributions in Sal’s name be made to the Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy, PA 17756.
